Lesser Swamp Warbler Foraging At Millstream Farm Wetlands | Birding In Dullstroom

This video features a Lesser Swamp Warbler, scientific name Acrocephalus gracilirostris, foraging in the reeds near a man-made dam at Millstream Farm, just outside Dullstroom in Mpumalanga. I’m Gareth, and I spent four hours in the bird hide at "Wordsworth Water," a dam renowned for its excellent dry fly fishing. During this time, I identified around 30 bird species. The highlight was this Lesser Swamp Warbler, finally ticked off my list after some help from Doug Newman. Identifying Warblers and Cisticolas has always been a challenge for me, so this sighting felt rewarding.

While filming this warbler, other amazing species like the African Rail, Banded Martin, and Red-chested Flufftail made brief appearances, though not captured on camera. Millstream Farm is a haven for both birders and anglers, offering incredible biodiversity and peaceful moments in nature.
