Tekki Sandan 鉄騎三段

Tekki Sandan is the third kata in the Tekki series of Shotokan Karate. Like the other Tekki katas, it is performed entirely in kiba-dachi (horse-riding stance), emphasizing strong hip movements and close-range fighting techniques.

Key Features of Tekki Sandan:

Advanced hand techniques: It includes complex arm movements such as haito-uke (ridge-hand block), tate-shuto (vertical knife-hand strike), and morote-uke (augmented block).

Hip rotation and power generation: The kata focuses on sharp hip movements to generate force.

Close-range combat concepts: Many of the movements simulate grappling, trapping, and counterattacks.

Unorthodox sequences: Unlike Tekki Shodan and Nidan, this kata introduces more fluid movements and defensive strategies.
