From a young age, Bethany sensed that something wasn’t right inside the organization. Anxiety and depression eventually led her to research—where she discovered the Australian Royal Commission and learned how deeply systemic the problems truly were.
After submitting her separation letter to the Watchtower, Bethany’s life changed overnight. She lost her parents, family, and entire community through enforced shunning.
Instead of disappearing, Bethany turned her pain into purpose.
Today, Stop the Shunning is a growing platform exposing the emotional harm of religious shunning and giving a voice to thousands of former Jehovah’s Witnesses and high-control group survivors.
