The focus of this piece is a round basket made entirely with Akebi vines.
I combined three different weaving techniques to create subtle patterns on the sides.
Because all the vines are the same material,
some of the patterns blend in a bit—but that’s part of the charm,
and it also means there’s plenty of room to refine this idea.
Next time, I’d like to try using vines of different colors
so the patterns stand out more clearly.
Experimenting and finding new ways to weave is one of the joys of basketry.
