Land Marks to see while traveling down the Mississippi River:
1) Crescent City Connection Bridges : Two iconic bridges near the cruise terminal.
2) French Quarter: Visible early on the port side, known for it's rich history.
3) Algiers Point: One of the river's deepest points with a traffic control tower nearby.
4)Domino Sugar Refinery: A massive sugar facility on the port side.
5) Chalmette Battlefield: Site of a key War of 1812 Battle.
6) Plantations & Historic Towns: Including Pointe a la Hache, English Turn, and Harlem Plantation.
7)Fort Jackson & Fort St. Phillip: Historical military sites, now largely damaged by hurricanes.
8)Venice (end of the road): The last vehicle_accessible town before reaching the gulf.
9) Pilottown: A village where river pilots switch as the ship enters Southwest Pass.
After ~7 hours, you'll reach the Gulf of Mexico, and the ship will speed up overnight for open-sea travel.
