We began our journey from Thal Bazar around 8 in the morning, and just 2.5 km later, we reached a place called Lamoti Mor. From here, the road splits — one takes you straight to Jahaz Banda, but we took the Left turn toward Badgoi Pass, and that’s where the real magic began.
The route passed through dense forest and beautiful green hills, slowly taking us higher and higher until we reached the stunning Badgoi Top — the point where Upper Dir and Swat District meet.
We spent about an hour and a half at the top, had some hot pakoras, enjoyed a cup of tea, and soaked in the views. Usually, there are 6–7 huts here, but during our visit, only 3 were open. You can stay the night here or even camp freely — wild camping is allowed on both the Swat and Upper Dir sides.
As we started descending toward Utror, just 1 km from the top, we stumbled upon something unexpected — a hidden spot called Dasht-e-Laila (some call it Dasht-e-Majnoon). It’s a peaceful, untouched valley that very few people even know about.
For reference, Badgoi Top sits at around 11,000 feet (3,350 meters) above sea level — no joke, it really feels like you’re on the roof of the world.
After visiting these incredible spots, we finally reached Utror Village, and that’s where this journey ends.
If you're planning to go from Kumrat to Kalam, this is not just the shortest route — it might be the most beautiful one too.
