EP10 | Ballalarayana Durga Fort Trek | Must Do Treks in Chikamagalur | Karnataka | BikeMyBuddy

Hello friends, welcome to my channel. This is the final part of the Chikmagalur trip and went to explore the Ballalarayana Durga Fort and Bandaje Falls trek. However, due to my leg injury, we could not do the Bandaje Falls which was 3.5 km from Ballalarayana Durga Fort. I will definitely do it on the next visit to Chikmagalur.

Ballalarayana Durga Trek is located in Chikmagalur in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, only 280 km from Bangalore. The trek holds an abandoned fort that was built in the 17th century at its peak as well as a torrential waterfall towards the final.

The trek distance is approx 3 km one way and the trek trails might be confusing at some point as there are a couple of diversions trails. Once you ascend the initial forest path, the wide open Shola grasslands welcome you which offer breathtaking views all around. On top, there are remains of a fort which is said to have been built by the Hoysala dynasty.

A trek, not to be missed, especially during the monsoon (but beware of leeches). There are a few places nearby like Rani Jhari Falls, Kalabhairava temple etc which can be visited too.

Trek lovers should not miss this spot, save it to your checklist and visit the Ballalarayana Durga Fort and Bandaje Falls trek together.

Please do not throw any plastic up there, as it pollutes nature.

Things to remember!

1. Smoking and drinking is prohibited.
2. Camping is prohibited in the forest, not even Rani Jhari.
3. The gate opens at 6:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm in the evening.
4. Wear shoes or boots to avoid casualty and leeches.
5. Carry enough water and some snacks.
