Food sovereignty is alive and thriving in Indigenous communities across Canada. It means having the power to harvest, prepare, and share food in ways that honour culture, community, and relationship to the land.
This short film takes you inside the gatherings in Iqaluit (2024) and Líl̓wat Nation (2025), where community leaders from Indigenous Community Food Centres and Right To Food’s Indigenous Network came together to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and chart a path forward for Indigenous food sovereignty.
This is the story behind the Seeds of Sovereignty living brief, a document that will be released later in October. At its heart is a simple truth: “We choose our own path.”
