Through the Seasons - Live Book Launch Conversation with Paula from Hill House Vintage

In today’s video, I’m sharing the recording of my live book launch conversation with Paula from Hill House Vintage. We talked about how Ask Charlie began, why I started teaching practical homemaking skills, and how Through the Seasons came to life.

Paula asks all the questions people are always curious about: the moment I realised these everyday skills weren’t being passed down, how the “Ask Charlie” idea came to me (yes, it involves a basket of laundry and The Durrells), and how I went from never having watched a YouTube video to filming them in my kitchen and uploading them from my local Tesco car park!

I also share the very honest, behind-the-scenes story of making the book happen as a severely dyslexic first-time author - from pulling old blog posts and recipes together with Tish, to long days of re-photographing recipes with Sophie, to working with Jocelyn on the illustrations and Karen on the design.

We talk about what makes Through the Seasons different - it is not just recipes, but seasonal homemaking, checklists, and simple, practical ideas for living and eating with the rhythm of the year. I chatted about why I wanted the book to feel like a warm hug, why it was so important to me that it’s for everyone, and who I dedicated it to.

There’s also a little glimpse of what might be coming next, because now that I have started writing, I do not seem to be able to stop!
