Jordan Turko's Celebration Story

With hearts that are broken and much love, the family of Jordan Wade Turko announces his passing on September 26, 2023, in Edmonton, AB. Jordan fought valiantly against an incurable cancer for a year and a half, always optimistic and never losing hope that he would find a way to live to be an old man someday. He passed away at only 31, but had a life interesting and well-lived enough to match that of "an old man." Whether it be the work he was so passionate about, hanging out with his family and friends, participating in Indigenous spiritual ceremonies such as sweat lodges, fasting and dancing for hours on end at Sundance, or sleeping on the jungle floor in Bali, approached it all with a zest for life, magnetic personality, and a sharp wit. He made fast friends wherever he went and inspired many during his journey with cancer, having people from around the globe reach out to him through his large social media and LinkedIn presence. Passionate about his work as an entrepreneur, he built a name for himself in the political space and became an advisor and a voice for and within the Indigenous communities with whom he worked and loved. He also helped to raise money for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, both through his role on the fundraising committee prior to his diagnosis, and then later through sharing his story and advocating for awareness.

Jordan will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of the many people who knew and loved him.
