Not That Easy: Drilling Well-Centered Holes in Wooden Dowels

My professional drill press was useless for this task. Woods with alternating hard and soft grain tend to deflect drill bits, so the holes don’t come out straight, even when using drill presses or drilling jigs. That’s why I made a special jig for drilling holes in the end grain of long wooden rods. Thanks to that woodworking idea that lets me position the drill guide correctly, quickly, and easily every time, I can now drill perfectly centered blind holes one after another.
