Cartama Spain Lovely Town Noches de la Bella Jarifa October 2022 Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]

The municipality of Cártama revived its Andalusian past once more with the celebration of the XII edition of the Nights of the Beautiful Jarifa, which took place on September 30 and October 1 and 2.

In the Nights of the Beautiful Jarifa, the adventures and misadventures of two lovers, Abindarráez and Jarifa, are recreated. The story, which takes place on an indeterminate date between 1410 and 1424, and whose oldest known written version dates from 1551, is one of the first literary manifestations in which the figure of the Muslim is dignified.

At the end of September, the old quarter of the municipality of Cártama is transformed into the Andalusian town that it once was, lighting up the streets with candles that host a medieval souk with stalls selling handicrafts, cheeses, sausages, sweets, and so much more.

In all of this, shops, groups, bars and restaurants collaborate, decorating premises and terraces, which has made it possible that, in a few years, it has become an important event in the region with a number of visitors that increases every year. There are also different attractions such as an exhibition and an exhibition of birds of prey, a toy library, children's workshops, parades, micro-theater, belly dance shows, musical performances, tastings, storytelling and puppet theater.

Coinciding with Bella Jarifa, the José Hurtado “Ramoliche” Flamenco Festival is held on Saturday night. It is free with limited capacity. In it you can see the performances of Israel Fernández, Diego del Morao, Pastora Galván, Rocío Gil and El Niño de La Aljaima.

In addition, the IV Minerals Fair was held in parallel on October 1 and 2 in the Santo Cristo Park. The aim is to bring the world of minerals, rocks and fossils closer to citizens as well as offering collectors a new meeting point.
