Oracle SQLcl MCP Server with Oracle AI Database and Claude Desktop and Cline in Visual Studio Code

SQLcl is integrated with Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server. In our previous video we have shown how you can quickly get started with sqlcl.
Oracle SQLcl is the command-line interface (CLI) for Oracle AI Database and is shipped with popular tools such as the Oracle SQL Developer extension for VS Code.
It can now be run as an MCP Server and provides MCP tools that allow an AI assistant to securely connect to Oracle AI Database 23ai to interact in natural language.  
MCP Server provides a secure and intuitive way to integrate AI with the Oracle AI Database, unlocking new possibilities by combining advanced intelligence with enterprise-grade reliability.
Kindly ensure that the database connections utilised by MCP Server are defined with database users having the least required privileges to accomplish the work at hand. This will limit what is accessible to the LLM. Oracle recommends taking extreme caution when granting the LLM direct access to production databases; instead, use a sanitised, read-only replica or a dedicated data subset. Regularly audit queries executed by the LLM to detect anomalies or attempts to access restricted data.

Oracle SQLcl MCP Server offers the following tools:
list-connections: Discovers and lists all saved Oracle AI Database connections on your machine.
connect: Establishes a connection to one of your specified named connections.
disconnect: Terminates the current, active Oracle AI Database connection.
run-sql: Executes standard SQL queries and PL/SQL code blocks against the connected database.
run-sqlcl: Executes SQLcl-specific commands and extensions.
