Time for sun, sand, and slapstick in Salt Water Tabby, the 31st theatrical Tom and Jerry short, released on July 12, 1947 by MGM, directed by William Hanna & Joseph Barbera, produced by Fred Quimby. The cartoon opens at a beach resort where Tom awkwardly flirts with Toodles—but chaos reigns thanks to Jerry hiding in a picnic basket tossing food and a feisty crab that repeatedly pinches Tom. He tumbles through a malfunctioning umbrella, swallows an inflatable horse, pops out of his swimsuit, and even gets launched into the sky—only to see Jerry sailing off with Toodles' basket as a boat and Tom’s suit as a sail.
