Prof Bryan Webber - Simulating the Standard Model: from LHC to the Planck Scale
Abstract:
The Standard Model of particle physics appears (so far) to be working perfectly at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, but we know it's not the whole story. It must at least go wrong by the Planck energy scale, where space-time breaks down. I will review the tools we have developed for computer generation of complete simulated Standard Model collision events at arbitrarily high energies, and the prospects for confronting them with reality beyond the LHC.
