Flying Together | Epic Hot Air Balloon Skydive + Wingsuit Stunt

I posted this video as a short a little while back, and was stoked to see how many people loved it! Lots of viewers wanted to see the full video, so here it is! This jump captures one of the wildest and most fun skydiving stunts Mike and I have ever pulled off. We set out to jump from a hot air balloon, with me holding onto a handlebar attached to his wingsuit. The idea was to sync our exit so that we’d fall perfectly timed together, and then have his suit pick up speed as I held on below— basically creating that surreal moment of “flying” together.

The jump

We climbed out, counted it down, and leapt at the same time. For a few seconds we were weightless, and then I held on to the handlebar with both legs kicked out behind me, yelling with pure happiness as Mike’s wingsuit started to glide. After a little he shook me off and I let go to deploy my parachute. It honestly felt like I was flying — one of the most unique sensations I’ve ever had in the sky.

Reflections

We weren’t sure if this stunt would work, but we nailed the exit and it couldn’t have gone better. Surprisingly, holding onto the handlebar wasn’t too hard, and it made for one of the most playful, creative skydives we’ve done together. Mike and I love trying stunts like this, and we’re already talking about doing it again. Activities like this always help remind me how lucky I am, and how capable we as humans are at doing amazing things.
