About the piece:
Hinduism has a central focus on the Divine Feminine. Shakti creates the entire manifest universe. She embodies the three qualities of change that we perceive in and around us: tamas (inertia), rajas (energetic), and sattva (luminous). She is Jagadamba, the World Mother - protector of all creatures and bestower of blessings. She destroys all negative energies and nurtures her children with affection. As Bagalamukhi, clad in refulgent yellow, She is the vanquisher of demons who calms the storm. She appears as Saraswati, the Goddess of Wisdom, clothed in white, holding the veena and sacred texts, and riding the swan. When the Asuras and the Devas churn the primordial milky ocean, She arises from its depths as Lakshmi, the Goddess of abundance and beauty. Yet another potent form of the Goddess is Mā Kālī whose fierce destructive power restores balance to the world.
