Since we've got some randomly very springlike weather today I figured it would be a good time to fire up the old Pontiac 455 and do a little delayed maintenance, namely an oil change. After destroying another mechanical fuel pump, replacing it, then driving back up many people had brought up concerns about it. Also with long tube headers, specifically Flowtech headers, what filter works? Can you use a factory style filter, or do you need something special?
So let's get the 1970 Pontiac LeMans back in the shop and on the rack, let's see the state of our Schaeffer's oil that's already in there and has been run through thousands of miles. Also let's discuss, what do YOU run in your flat tappet motors? Are you a high zinc oil believer? Zinc additive on conventional oil? The cheapest thing you can find at the parts store?
