In this video, you’re coming along with us on a real workday in the excavation business. Me and Fred start the day by bidding / estimating a new excavation job, shooting grade, talking through the plan, and discussing rough ballpark numbers on a $30,000 excavation project.
After the job walk, we head back to finish up another job, where I spend most of the day in the skid steer, grading and moving material while talking through real-world business decisions, lessons learned, and what it’s actually like running an excavation company day to day.
This isn’t a sit-down estimating class — it’s a walk-and-talk, fly-on-the-wall look at how excavation jobs really start and how the work gets finished on site.
