22q deletion syndrome has been called by many names, including DiGeorge Syndrome and Velocardiofacial Syndrome. Molecular genetic research has revealed that these syndromes had one common link - a small amount of genetic material missing on the short arm of chromosome 22q.
22q deletion syndrome has the potential to impact every system in the body and can lead to a wide-range of health issues. The 22q Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital provides comprehensive, coordinated care for these patients because we understand that each child with 22q deletion syndrome has unique needs.
