We are reaching the end of Etienne Gerard's recollections of his glorious army career. Here he recounts, in this the first part of two, his final acts of heroism at the battle of Waterloo and the stakes really couldn't be higher. He is at Napoleon's right hand, and not with his little devils, the Hussars of Conflans. Naturally he finds himself sent, once again, on a special mission at the Emperor's behest.
Turns out he spends quite a lot of time in the attic of a French inn as the battle is raging, and the Prussians are marching by, but duty and honour commit him to one more action of the highest daring and courage, that will elevate him into the topmost rank in the French pantheon of heroes.
Read by Greg Wagland. The German accent coach was (regrettably) unavailable!
