Carlsen's Grand Prix Attack* Crushes Lu Shanglei

Featured is a sharp chess game between Magnus Carlsen and Lu Shanglei from Round 5 of Titled Tuesday Blitz, played on September 16th. The game starts with a Bird's Opening but quickly resembles a Grand Prix Attack by move 3. Lu’s 6th move, Qb6, proves to be a mistake, leaving the queen misplaced. Carlsen capitalizes in short order, reaching a winning position by move 11. Although his 17th move gives Lu a glimmer of hope, Carlsen keeps up the pressure, exploiting the weakened dark squares around Lu’s king in a very forceful manner.
