Belinda Liew (Graduated in 1989)

Belinda Liew has a passion to pass on the vocal art with the mission to promote peace, joy and harmony. She believes music can foster relationships and bring people’s hearts into deeper reflection of life.

Belinda has over 25 years of vocal teaching experience. In the past, she had performed major roles in various operatic productions including Faust (Marguerite), Carmen (Frasquita), Magic Flute (Queen of the Night), Die Fledermaus (Adele), The Marriage of Figaro (Susanna), Gianni Schicchi (Lauretta), Hansel and Gretel (Gretel), Una Cosa Rara (Ghita), Susanna’s Secret (Susanna), and Aida (High Priestess). Other performances included The Hong Kong Ballet’s production The King and The Nightingale as Nightingale’s voice, as well as numerous vocal performances in Greater China, Singapore, Malaysia, and United Kingdom.

Belinda is a graduate of Malaysian Institute of Art, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and was awarded scholarship to study at The Royal College of Music in London. Her mentors include Mdm. Ella Kiang, Mdm. Ma, Mdm. Lilian Lee, Mr. Michael Rippon, Dr. Margreta Elkins, Dr. Derek Anthony, Mdm. Graziella Sciutti and Mdm. Elizabeth Robson.

She had received awards in various competitions including the Special Prize for the Talented Competitor at the Mondial Chinese Vocalist Concours Rome '97 (Rome, 1997), Semi-Finalist at the International Coloratura Singing Competition (Luxemberg, 1996), Second Runner-up at the Pan-Asia Singing Competition (Taipei, 1992), First Prize at the Central-West Hong Kong Art Song Contest (1991).

劉辨琴熱衷於聲樂教學，希望籍聲樂的傳承傳揚和平、喜樂、和睦的信息。她相信音樂能夠促進友誼，並且將人的心靈領進更深的生命反思。

劉辨琴教授聲樂已經超過25年。她曾參與多部歌劇演出，扮演重要角色，包括《浮士德》的瑪格麗特；《卡門》的法斯該達；《魔笛》的夜后；《蝙蝠》的愛黛兒；《費加羅的婚禮》的蘇珊娜；《賈尼·斯基基》的勞蕾塔；《韓賽與葛莉特》的葛莉特；《罕見之事》的吉策；和《蘇珊娜的秘密》的蘇珊娜。其它演出包括在香港芭蕾舞團的《國王與夜鶯》中聲演夜鶯，和於大中華、新加坡、馬來西亞、英國等多個城市參與歌唱演出。

劉辨琴畢業於馬來西亞藝術學院聲樂系，畢業後獲獎學金到香港演藝學院進修聲樂。其後再獲獎學金前往英國皇家音樂學院進修。她的恩師包括著名歌唱家江樺老師，馬潤蘭老師及李水蓮老師，男低音聶明康及戴志誠，女高音瑪格麗特·埃爾金斯，格拉齊拉·錫楚蒂和伊麗莎白·羅布森。

劉辨琴視歌唱比賽為寶貴的學習機會。她曾於多項比賽中獲得優秀成績，包括1997年於羅馬舉行的【全球華人歌唱比賽】的新秀獎；1996年於盧森堡舉行的【國際花腔歌歌比賽】進入半準決賽；1992年於台北舉行的【泛亞歌唱比賽】獲得亞軍；和於1991年的【香港中西區藝術歌大賽】中獲得冠軍。
