在生活中人们常常在家中、办公室、店铺等，都有安奉神位的风俗，以示对神、佛的恭敬。安放神位供奉神灵有诸多风水讲究，只有遵循这些规则，才会吉祥如意、心想事成。
一、供奉神灵的数量1、如果住宅面积较大，可专设一间宽敞的静室作佛堂，供多种神灵也不妨碍。2、若在客厅、大堂安放神位，则供奉一位或三位神灵足矣，因为周易理论认为单数为阳，偶数为阴。最常见是供奉观音、关公、财神、福禄寿三星等。客厅比较喧哗，不比佛堂安静，因此供奉神灵过多反不敬。再者，客厅供奉神灵过多，显得类似寺庙般宗教气色过浓，反而影响家庭生活的和谐。
二、供奉神灵的尊卑、上下之分1、各天界神祗之中以佛为尊，菩萨次之，其他神祗又次之。若果三尊神祗并供，则正中为最尊，左次之，右又次之。若果供奉两尊天神，则以左尊右次之。2、如果既供奉神佛，又供奉祖先、地主财神，可将神台分成三层，上供天界神祗、中供人界祖先、下供地界土神、地主。
三、安放神位的座向1、如果大门正对街道或庭院，神像应面向大门。神位面向大门，开门见佛、菩萨、天神，犹如开门见喜，易得神光普照，当然有益于身体健康事业发展。关公是武财神，一般商铺多奉为镇店之神，正对大门便有招财和看守门户的作用。供奉武财神赵公明也应正对大门招财。2、供奉文财神，不论是财帛星君还是福禄寿三星都应面向自己屋内，而不应向着屋外，否则便会向屋外送财。

四、安神是否需要开光一尊佛像或神像，不过是泥塑木雕的，经过有道行、有法力的人将其开光，发出灵气就具法力，保佑宅内的人。五、上香的数目的讲究香烛是人界与天界及地界沟通的工具。一般而言，每日早晚上香，只上一枝平安香便已足够。如果立下一愿，希望神灵帮助，上香的数目可以添到三支，加速愿力的成就。如果有特别的重要或危急的事求助求赦于神灵，上香可以增加到九支，这是紧急求神灵救助的信息，非不得已，不宜多用。供奉神、佛获益无量，如果你家中住房条件不允许的话，虽无可奈何，唯一补救的方法，是心中有神佛，对神佛有恭敬之心。

If there is a special important or critical matter to ask for forgiveness from the gods, the number of incense sticks can be increased to nine. This is a message to ask for help from the gods urgently. There are countless benefits to worshiping gods and Buddhas. If the housing conditions in your home do not allow it, although there is nothing you can do, the only remedy is to have gods and Buddhas in your heart and be respectful to them.
