Exploring High River and Okotoks – Cycling Adventure!

This is a cycling video to be used with an indoor stationary bike trainer or just for your viewing pleasure. This ride was done on the 7th of September 2025 and was the second ride in my Southern Alberta Roundup.

I started off at the High River Airport (actually named Foothills Regional Airport) heading north on 104th St E into High River. This road becomes 10th St SE, then 11th Ave SE, which then turns north onto 9th St NE which led me into Emerson Lake Park. From there I picked up the trail that follows the diversion floodway till I came to Highway 2A.

I followed Highway 2A north out of town and all the way to 32 St E in Okotoks. This part was a little…uneventful, so I clipped it from the video.

I followed 32 St E across the Sheep River to turn onto Heritage Parkway Bike Path. This is a scenic path that winds its way on the north side of the Sheep River. I turned off the path south to cross the Okotoks Sheep River Bridge which brings you to the Cimarron Parkway. I followed this on the south side of the river back to 32 St E then back south out of Okotoks.

That brough me onto 2A and back to High River which I clipped again. The video picks up turning onto 7th St NW into High River.

I followed 7th St till just before the golf course then turned east on the bike path there to get to Centre Street. I crossed the bridge to turn right on Macleod Trail then got onto the bike path that goes south of the Highwood River. This path eventually took me to 12 Ave SW (and SE) which I took east all the way back to 10 St SE. Then it was south back to the airport.

It was a great day to explore an interesting area to live in. Hmmm…
