近所の保護犬「なつ」ちゃんを描かせていただきました。
黒い雑種犬で、優しいご家族に迎えられた元保護犬です。
このお宅では、ほかにも保護猫たちが暮らしていて、みんなそれぞれに「春・夏・秋・冬」の季節にちなんだ名前がつけられているそうです。
普段は垣根越しに見かけるだけでしたが、間近で会ったら笑顔がとてもキュートで、人懐っこく、心に残る出会いでした。
絵は、ちょっと首を傾げた正面アップの構図で描きました。
制作はなかなか思うように進まず苦労もありましたが、背景のブルーとともにお気に入りの作品となりました。
This time, I had the pleasure of drawing Natsu, a black mixed-breed dog who lives in my neighborhood. Her name, “Natsu,” means “summer” in Japanese.
She was rescued and is now cared for by a kind family who also looks after several rescued cats. Interestingly, each animal in the household is named after one of the four seasons—spring, summer, autumn, or winter.
Since Natsu lives outdoors, I had only seen her from a distance through the hedge.
But this time, I had the chance to meet her up close for the first time.
She had such a sweet, friendly smile that left a lasting impression on me.
I chose to draw her in a close-up portrait, with her head slightly tilted and wearing that lovely smile.
Although it was a bit challenging to capture her expression at first, I’m very happy with how the piece turned out—especially with the soft blue background.
