Much like the previous releases, “Ihmisyydestä luopunut” encapsulates the harsh black metal aesthetic Kurjuus is known for, but with subtle evolution. The dissonant riffs and raw production embrace black metal's early ethos, while still carrying traces of the heavy metal flourishes that have become more pronounced in recent offerings.

With black metal's evolution, some have claimed the genre has softened or grown more accessible over time. Kurjuus proves otherwise. This EP, like its predecessors, exemplifies the core of Finnish black metal: raw, uncompromising, and steeped in the essence of nihilism. Even as the genre bends and reshapes, Kurjuus stands as a bulwark, reminding listeners that black metal remains alive and hostile.

Where the prior EP hinted at moments of musicality and pagan influences, this one delves deeper into the chaos and dissonance, enshrouded in fury and sonic extremity, offering fewer moments of reflection and more of sheer intensity. This sonic violence is a cathartic ritual, dragging the listener closer to the deepest abyss.
