In a small village lived a poor family. A boy in the family was studying in 12th grade. His parents were farmers. Because they were poor, his parents worked in the fields. The boy helped them. He went to the fields and also studied.

Every morning he took his books to the field. He found little time, so he opened a book and read a little. He returned home in the evening and studied more until late. The villagers watched him and praised him. They said he would pass 12th grade with first division.

Exam time came. He took the exam. After a few days the result came. He failed in one subject. Because of that, he failed the exam. Then some villagers started to tease him. When he walked through the village to go to work, people laughed and made rude comments. They hurt his feelings. It became hard for him to study again.

One day he met a teacher. He told the teacher everything. The teacher said, “Do one thing. Tomorrow morning bring a cup of milk. Fill it carefully. Do not let a single drop fall.” The boy said, “Yes, teacher. I will bring it.”

Next morning he filled the cup with milk. He walked carefully on the village road to the teacher’s house. He watched the cup all the time. He did not hear anyone who shouted or teased him. He reached the teacher without spilling any milk.

The teacher smiled and said, “See? When you do a work, focus on it. Do not pay attention to what others say. If you listen to them, you may lose your focus and fail. You did not hear the teasing because you watched the cup. That is why you succeeded.”

The boy then ignored the teasing and studied hard again. In the next exam he scored 98% and became the top student.
