felt like mr maker doing this but it was so fun!! i know this isn't my usual content but i just thought i'd share my process because i love making these :)

also this won't count as my weekly upload! i'll still be posting on saturday :)

Yarn hair wraps, which are braided into individual hair strands using colourful thread, are not distinctive to any one country, but are rather influenced by a mix of global traditions. As a part of their cultural identity and ceremonial practices, indigenous people have traditionally adorned their hair with beads and natural materials. Similar practices can be found in African hair threading and adornment as well as parts of Asia where hairstyles for festivals or ceremonies are braided with fibre and bead decorations.

In the 1970s, the bohemian and hippie movements popularised and Westernised the modern hair wraps, which stood for individuality, creativity, and a connection with the natural world. By the 1980s and 1990s, they had become accepted as a colourful and enjoyable craft in mainstream Western society, particularly at summer camps and festivals. However, their roots in cultural storytelling, artistry, and adornment deserves recognition and appreciation :)
