Die Hard (ENG)(1990) | Wranker 4K PC Engine Real Hardware Playthrough | Retrotink 4K

Full playthrough of Die Hard, released in 1990 for the NEC PC Engine. This was a Japanese exclusive, based on the massively popular film of the same name. This ROM is the English translation of the original game.

This is an excellent little shooter, sits somewhere between run and guns, and shoot 'em ups. It's not long, clocking in at under an hour, and the graphics aren't particularly special, but the gameplay is fun and I had a good time playing it.

I don't know what it is about this game in particular, but the Retrotink 4K really struggled to lock in to the resolution changes between the cut scenes and the gameplay. It's not too bad, it does a fair job, just leads to slight jittering between scenes. I did try fine tuning the settings and this is the best I could do.

This footage was captured on a NEC PC Engine Core Grafx (the grey and blue one). I have modded the console with a RGB mod of my own design as the PC Engine only natively outputs composite video.

The gameplay was upscaled with the RetroTink 4K, recorded in 4K using the Avermedia Live Gamer ULTRA 2.1 capture card, both great bits of equipment, highly recommended to any retro gaming enthusiasts.

I upload these playthroughs, mainly for real hardware footage preservation, which is why I use no watermarks or overlays and record the footage in integer scaled 4:3. Feel free to use it as you wish, all I ask, is you don't just reupload it in full. Credit to my main channel would be greatly appreciated, but not required.
