My 101st UpLoad is going to be like starting over. I'm going to go back to the very beginning, where it all started out with me, and that is my organ songs. I was around 15 when my Gram got a Wurlitzer organ that was in our frontroom. It had 2 keyboards and "buttons" and Bass pedals. We took lessons for a short while, but it soon became obvious that this just started me off on my own tangent. At the same time i was getting into guitar and my first amp was a Gibson Saturn. It didn't take me long to wonder how the organ would sound using this amp. So the Reverb made the organ sound even cooler. So with all of this youthful energy and exuberance, i just start to come up with these organ songs. I am and always will be a melody freak, so most of these will have a strong melody. Because of this, although instrumental, many will include lyrics because this just naturally came out in the process and you can sing along with these organ melodies.
So, it's back to basics. At the same time there will be other types of uploads, but for the most part, there's going to be a big chunk of 'my early organ songs'. This may be joined with just acoustic guitar songs that were done much later. Some of these are good solid songs with cool, different chords and good ideas. Mainly, the reason they will be included is that i rehearsed and then recorded them well. So they stand alone as, what i consider to be, a solid, good song. Many such songs i'll never get back to, to do more with, so, that's just the way it is. I'll leave that to . . . whoever.
The, possibly obvious, reason i did start out with my uploads the way i did was because these are all, mostly, examples of songs that i felt came together well or were worked on and recorded well or that i just always enjoyed very much and thusly, i felt, these were my better songs. The effort you put into working on and perfecting a song comes through and you really can't compare them to an early organ song; many of which are just seed ideas and like demos. Some of the organ songs are just long jams where i'm just getting off on coming up with melodies while the rest of the song is just basically 2 or 3 chords. But some of these came out pretty cool, especially the ones with Reverb. I will try to edit out mistakes in Audacity and hope i can do so cleanly. For some, that are too mistake ridden, i will just have to bite the bullet and fire up the old organ and practice them until i got it down and then re-record it. But that will be later. The easiest ones first, that is going to be my directive and approach.
Later on i will get into the phase were i will work on songs i always wanted to and perfect them. Most of these will require 4 or more tracks. I will soon have the ability to record in real-time and analog having 14 tracks at my disposal, via a couple DAT machines a dear friend has given me, who has gone on to work with ProTools. But i am much more comfortable recording this way and is the way i always wanted to, but, believe it or not, i never had this until now. So that is really going to be fun and a trip for me. I hope the results will be something others can enjoy as well, the same as i feel about all of my songs that i've already uploaded.
Again, Thank God For Google, that's my battle-cry.
