RC Cub Yellow or Close Enough?

In this video I discuss the spray paint that I used to approximate Cub Yellow, the color of the classic Piper J3 Cub airplane, in my build of the House of Balsa Chipmunk RC plane and the Hanger 9 Piper J3 Cub ARF kit. For the House of Balsa Chipmunk RC plane, I chose Monokote Cub Yellow to approximate the Canadian Armed Forces yellow color scheme. I needed to paint part of the plane and I found that Rust-Oleum "Painter's Touch" Golden Sunset gloss was a good match for the Monokote Cub Yellow. I also found that the Rust-Oleum Golden Sunset gloss was a decent match for the Hanger 9 Cub ARF, which is UltraCote Cub Yellow.

There are a few sources of "cub yellow" paint out there, but I found that the Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Golden Sunset gloss was an easy to obtain and inexpensive best approximation good option, in my opinion. Maybe you will find this helpful also. No, I'm not getting paid by Rust-Oleum for discussing their paint, lol, but I thought this could be useful for those looking for a close "Cub Yellow" spray paint.

I have been building, flying, crashing, modifying, and repairing radio control planes for many years and enjoy sharing what I do with the radio control plane community. I fly with Futaba radio equipment, OS Max engines and Saito engines and typically run Morgan Omega and Powermaster glow fuels. I fly ARF rc planes, but I also really like to build rc plane kits.

I also build modern ARF RC kits (Great Planes, Hangar 9). My next rc plane build will be the Balsa USA Smoothie 40.
