Have you ever steamed a cake before? I hadn't, until I tried this recipe.

This is a very good, simple chocolate cake. No fancy decorations or frostings, just a single layer of chocolate cake. The nuts are a nice element for both flavor and texture. I prefer them small, which is what they seemed to be like in the picture in the book, but chop them however you like!

It really doesn't require any special equipment. If you don't have a steamer, the book does describe how to rig a makeshift one using a larger pot, but you could also bake it instead.
