在臺灣的生命禮俗中，牽亡歌陣頭儀式，被認為能引領亡者前往西方極樂世界。不僅濟渡亡魂、安慰孝眷，歌詞內容亦有勸世教孝功能。在較傳統的中南部地方，透過親友鄰居前來觀看、協助、參與，改變了死亡的氛圍，讓靈堂不再恐怖。然而，民俗會隨著時代的演進逐漸變化，有可能漸漸消失。紅頭法師林宗範，正試著為歌團找一條可以延續的道路。
In Taiwan’s funerals, soul guiding singing arrays and rituals are believed to be able to guide the souls of the deceased to the Land of Bliss (namely, Heaven). Sending souls to the spirit world and comforting the bereaved family, soul guiding songs contain lyrics that are cautionary and encourage people to respect and care for their parents. In central and southern Taiwan, where people tend to adhere to cultural norms, inviting family members and neighbors to watch, help with, or participate in soul guiding rituals helps to change the atmosphere of a funeral and make a mourning hall less scary. As folk arts evolve with time, they might disappear at some point. This is why Lin Tsung-fan, a red-turbaned Taoist wizard has been trying to find a path that leads to the future of his soul guiding singing troupe.
