Bass Groove Breakdown: How To Play A Funk Bass Line Over A D7 Chord. Grooving on one chord is the cornerstone of soul, funk, and R&B music. This video shows you how to integrate fills, dead notes, and funky embellishments as you play over a dominant 7th chord on the bass.
I start by establishing a groove framework and then break it down piece by piece to highlight the "good stuff" aka, bass fills. We can add embellishments in the higher and lower registers by using chromatic motion, chords, and by reorienting our hand position.
