Thinking about switching to induction cooking in your camper van?
In this video, I test whether my VW T6 Transporter camper conversion with a 120Ah AGM leisure battery and 2000 watt inverter can actually power an induction hob. The hob being tested is the Sterling Power IH1 and uses 1800watts maximum.
I’ll run the hob, monitor power draw, and see how the AGM battery copes under load. The big question: is AGM good enough, or do I need to upgrade to lithium for a reliable induction cooking setup in the van?
If you’re building a campervan or wondering about the real-world power demands of induction cooking off-grid, this video should give you a good idea of what’s possible — and where the limits are.
