Continuing our reimagining series, this mix revisits the soundtrack of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island (1995), composed by Koji Kondo, whose work on this title pushed the Mario sound further into playful experimentation. Built around unconventional textures, rhythmic ideas, and a childlike sense of motion, the soundtrack gave Yoshi’s Island a musical identity that was lighter, stranger, and more expressive than its predecessor.

Approached through the lens of Japanese jazz fusion, these reinterpretations preserve the soundtrack’s whimsical and animated nature while giving it a clearer musical structure.
