🌾 Canadian Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis)

There are SO many benefits that goldenrod provides, not only to us but insects as well. In the video you see bees utilizing these benefits by pollinating the goldenrod flowers and sleeping on the plants leaves. You may not have noticed the tiny black dots among the goldenrod being pollinated, but those are insects waking from their nightly hibernaculum!
For humans, Goldenrod provides many health benefits for conditions including asthma, arthritis, even diabetes, to name a few! Aside from health benefits there are quite a few tools Goldenrod can be turned into including arrows, rakes, and fishing rods! The list of just how beautiful Goldenrod truly is goes on forever and I encourage you to write your own!

FUN FACT: Henry Ford used Canadian Goldenrod to make rubber for the Model T tires. Thomas Edison grew Goldenrod at his homestead for his use of rubber, as well!

Canada Goldenrod is a native wild flower here in Ontario, Canada, a grandmother to all species and is a species included in Project Wild Flower. For every purchase at a Nomads Nature on Etsy, 10 native wild flower seeds are planted by a Nomads Nature.
