On Monday, April 28th, 2025, 9-year-old third grader Kendrix Brehmer from Lyons, Nebraska, wandered away from his Northeast Elementary School. His father, Matthew, received a phone call from the superintendent stating that Kenny had opened a gate and run out. Matthew was devastated to learn this news and instantly began to look for him. Sadly, about an hour into the search, Kenny's uncle would find his body in a Lagoon at Brink Memorial Park. Kendrix was taken off life support on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, at Children's Nebraska in Omaha and passed surrounded by his family.
