A bit like a steroid abuser with tissue growth in all the wrong places, our urban passenger railways reflect an obsession with peak CBD travel. The usual false narratives tell you it must be this way. Post-COVID the whole thing is looking a bit sorry. Yet road congestion is as bad as ever and people who could be using a better rail system who don't work in the CBD are missing out.

We look at what peak hour has done to our railways and what we could have done differently, even going back to the most basic arithmetic and technical stuff.

The politics has a darker side, and for that this episode comes with a trigger warning.
