Best arcade vertical shooters of the 80s & 90s in chronological order.

Over 200 arcade MAME vertical shoot em ups ,shmups or Vertically scrolling shooters from the 1980s and 1990s.A list starting with Xevious with the weirdly named such as Nostradamus,Hotdog storm & Dogyuun.Hopefully you'll find that game you've been searching for for years.
Some games do have other elements of gameplay to them ,Terraforce having side scrolling for example.
Some games are multi directional or have a touch of 3D to them.
I missed the likes of Gunsmoke which for me definitely is a vertical shmup but I just wanted to concentrate on space shooters ,planes/helicopters/vehicles etc. And no one screen shooters such as Space invaders.
The odd one may have been put into the wrong year.
