In the Ranks: Full Civil War Infantry Battle Reenactment (First-Person Infantry Experience)

Step into the ranks and experience a Civil War battle from the perspective of an infantryman. This full-length reenactment captures the entire battle from start to finish, filmed live in the field with authentic uniforms, black powder rifles, and battlefield commands.

Hear the volleys, feel the tension, and see what life was like in the line of fire during one of the most defining eras in American history.

This reenactment takes place on the historic grounds of the actual Battle of Pleasant Hill in Louisiana. Now in its 43rd year, the event brings together dedicated reenactors to honor the past through immersive experiences. While the site itself holds deep historical significance, a nearby highway can occasionally break the period atmosphere—a reminder that modern life continues just beyond the edge of history.

This was also my very first-time filming with a GoPro, and I’m still learning the best ways to capture these events. If you have any constructive feedback on how I can improve future footage—whether it’s angles, movement, or lighting—I’d truly appreciate it.
