In today’s experiment we have one of our volunteers, Carol, show us how to boil water an unlikely suspect: ice. With a water-filled and air-tight glass bottle, the ice placed on the outside of the bottle changes the internal pressure of the bottle, causing the water inside to boil. The same science applies to mountain climbers at high altitudes, where they experience lower than normal air pressures, making their water boil much faster than normal! For this experiment you will need: a glass bottle w/ a lid, water, a glass cup, bowl of ice. You can skip ahead to 0:35 to get started!
