The Mazurka brillante dates from 1850 and is dedicated to Chopin’s compatriot, Adam Kozuchowski. It is one of Liszt’s rare contributions to this genre, its world being much more public than that of Chopin’s mazurkas. But it is an effective little concert piece whose Polish flavour is authentic enough.
