How Did Darth Vader Eat Food... And Poop?

Vaders suit acted in many ways like a prison. After his little accident on Mustafar, Vaders charred body was almost entirely useless. Wiithout the aid of his suit, he could not hear, breath or walk and he could only remove it when he was in his specialised bacta tank within his fortress. However, all this begs the question, When and how dud Vader go to the toilet and eat food?

So before we get into the intracies of how Vader went for a sith, we must first look at how he ate in the first place. Although Vader denied that he ate or pooped, he most certainly did, albeit never in public view. This was mainly to keep up the fasade of a machine man and ruthless killer, serving as another way that Vader was able to embed his infamous status into the imperial ranks. So the majority of his nutrients were supplied through various tubes and pouches that allowed him to quench his hunger and thirst without needing to take his mask off. Although this was more practical, Vader did eat inside his meditation sphere, although this was incredibly difficult and he could only really eat liquid food and medicine pastes. However it was noted that eating food was one of the few things that he actually enjoyed beside his work as an enforcer for the Emperor.


A similar system was used at the back end of Vader's suit. After the events on Mustafar, Vaders exit passage had been charred and burned beyond use and this made pooping neigh impossible. He therefore relied on his suit to allow him to remove waste from his body, though the use of catheters, collection pouches and most disgustingly of all recyclers

Recyclers would break down and turn the waste into usable nutrients. Using this Vader's waste products would then be turned back into useful nutrients for the dark lord to eat. This process would repeat itself again and again until there was almost no nutritional benefit. The waste with absolutely no nutritional value was then moved into the collection pouches which would then be removed and replaced with fresh new ones. While not a perfect system, this could allow the dark lord to go much longer than a regular human before having to eat food. even though this is revolting it was highly beneficial to the dark lord who would often spend weeks at a time tracking down Jedi and rebels. I also can't help thinking that this just another way for Palpatine to punish Vader for his failure on Mustafar which meant he could never live up to his full potential as a sith lord. Not only was he in a world of pain because of his suit, he was even denied the satisfaction of eating normally and the age old pleasure of going to the loo.
