Things I do to switch my body from night shift to day shift mode

Transitioning from night shift to day shift? 🕰️ Here’s how I manage the switch without completely losing my mind!!
1. Gradually shift your sleep schedule: I wish there was a magic switch, but let’s be real…this takes time! Start adjusting slowly to avoid that groggy feeling.
2. Adjust light exposure: Bright light when you’re awake and dim it down when it’s time for bed. Your body produces melatonin based on how much your pineal gland get signals vis light exposure thru your eyes. Remember when you took the A&P class?👍
3. Make early plans or appointments: It’s all about accountability! Scheduling something in the AM forces you to stay up and adjust your body clock.
4. Optimize sleep hygiene: A quiet, dark room is key. I love a warm shower before bed and avoid heavy exercise or big meals too late. Oh, and I’m super sensitive to smells—so I use scents that help me relax and wind down. 🛏️
5. Cut caffeine & water before bed: Avoid caffeine late in the day and stay away from drinking too much water right before bed. No one likes waking up in the middle of the night for a bathroom run! 😴💧
6. Eat at regular times: Your body’s “tummy clock” is real! Eat on a schedule, and your body will adjust faster to your new shift. 🍽️
7. If all else fails, try melatonin: A small dose of melatonin or even Benadryl (when allergies hit) can help. Bonus: studies show magnesium & potassium can improve sleep too! 💊
