Just a couple of minutes ago, we saw two large groups of migrants who had CBP One appointments for today and for two days from now. They were brought from the airport, they told us, here to the bridge. They were allowed to go inside, where they were told that all appointments were canceled. They were escorted out, many of them not knowing where to go, or what comes next."

STORYLINE:
Just two hours after the inauguration, in Matamoros, Mexico, just across from Brownsville, Texas, two groups of migrants with border CBP One appointments were picked up from the airport by Mexican officials and taken to the international bridge where they were told all future appointments would be cancelled.
About 50 migrants rolled their suitcases back to the Mexican side of the bridge, some with their children in their arms. They gathered near the bridge and considered their next options as they faced a steady stream of drizzle and near freezing temperatures the next day.
The Trump administration Monday ended use of the border app called CBP One that has allowed nearly 1 million people to legally enter the United States with eligibility to work.
A notice on the website of Customs and Border Protection on Monday just after Trump was sworn in let users know that the app that had been used to allow migrants to schedule appointments at eight southwest border ports of entry is no longer available. The notice said that existing appointments have been canceled.
The move adheres to a promise Trump made during his campaign and will please critics who say it was an overly generous magnet for more people to come to Mexico’s border with the United States.
The CBP One app had been wildly popular.
It is an online lottery system to give appointments to 1,450 people a day at eight border crossings. They enter on immigration “parole,” a presidential authority that Joe Biden used more than any other president since it was introduced in 1952.
