Join the Broadway Bradshaws as Jared and Georgia leave Lindsay at home and have a great Disney water Park day!
Blizzard Beach is one of two water parks at Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, near Orlando. It opened on April 1, 1995, and has a unique and playful theme: the story goes that a freak snowstorm hit Florida, and the area was turned into a ski resort—until the snow began to melt! Disney reimagined the melting ski resort into a tropical water park with a snowy, alpine twist. You’ll see snow-capped mountains, chairlifts, ski-themed decor, and whimsical water features throughout the park.
🏞️ Themed Areas and Key Attractions
Blizzard Beach is centered around Mount Gushmore, a 90-foot tall man-made "mountain" from which most of the water slides descend. The park is divided into different "slopes" (like a ski resort), and attractions are categorized by thrill level.
❄️ Green Slope (Thrill Rides)
These rides are located at the summit of Mount Gushmore and are generally the most intense in the park.
Summit Plummet
One of the tallest and fastest free-fall body slides in the world at 120 feet high, reaching speeds up to 60 mph. This is the signature attraction and a must-do for thrill seekers.
Slush Gusher
A slightly less intense body slide than Summit Plummet, with two hills that create an air-time sensation. Still fast and thrilling, but more accessible to a wider range of guests.
Teamboat Springs
One of the world's longest family whitewater raft rides, great for groups of 4-6. It features twists, turns, and splashes all the way down the mountain.
🟦 Purple Slope (Racing Slides)
These slides are designed for competitive fun.
Downhill Double Dipper
Twin enclosed tube slides where guests race side-by-side on inner tubes, complete with a start gate and digital timers.
Snow Stormers
Three mat slides where guests ride face-first down a slalom-style course, resembling a bobsled race.
Toboggan Racers
An 8-lane mat-racing slide where guests race headfirst down a hill, ideal for groups or families competing for the fastest time.
🟥 Red Slope (Moderate Slides)
These are moderate thrill slides, less intense than Green and Purple slopes.
Runoff Rapids
Three different inner tube slides with winding paths down the mountain. Some are open, while others are enclosed for a darker, more thrilling experience.
💦 Other Attractions and Areas
Melt-Away Bay
A 1-acre wave pool at the base of Mount Gushmore, with gentle bobbing waves—perfect for relaxing and floating.
Cross Country Creek
A lazy river that circles the park, passing through caves, waterfalls, and even a melting ice cave that drips cold water on guests.
Ski Patrol Training Camp
An intermediate area for tweens and younger guests, featuring rope bridges, slides, and floating iceberg walks.
Tike’s Peak
A play area just for toddlers and young children, with mini-slides, splash zones, and gentle water features. It’s themed like a miniature ski resort.
🍔 Dining and Amenities
Blizzard Beach offers multiple quick-service dining locations, snack stands, and bars, such as:
Lottawatta Lodge – Main quick-service restaurant with burgers, wraps, and salads.
Cooling Hut – Offers snacks, beverages, and ice cream.
Polar Pub – A bar serving frozen cocktails, beer, and other drinks.
Other amenities include:
Locker rentals
Towel rentals
