hello everyone!! I am so excited about today's video because I cooked my first steak and didn't mess it up! hahah, it was so fun surprising my boyfriend and seeing his reaction.. especially since he was at his friends house before this and was really craving steak, so it was even more exciting surprising him knowing he was in the mood for steak! Ingredients/ Instructions
Mushrooms:
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
1 garlic clove minced
1/4 tsp lemon zest
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp freshly diced parsley
2 small packs of mushrooms
Let the mushrooms soak for at LEAST 20 minutes covered in the fridge. Cook at 400 and turn every 5-10 minutes. These take roughly 20 minutes depending on your oven. I used convection to speed up the process.
Steak marinade
prime rib steak
olive oil
coarse salt and pepper to taste
Take the steaks out of the fridge 30-45 minutes BEFORE you cook them to come to room temperature. Sear for 2-3 minutes on medium-high in a cast iron pan. DO NOT TOUCH THEM during those few minutes or you will interrupt the searing process! Depending on how you like your steak, put the whole cast iron pan into the oven at 400 degrees for 5-7 minutes. I used a meat thermometer to get me between 130-145 ish for medium rare steak.
Ingredients to add while steak is cooking in the pan:
2 crushed cloves of garlic
fresh thyme/rosemary
two cubes of butter
* BASTE THE STEAK BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE OVEN*
Caprese Salad:
2 medium sized tomatos
Fresh mozzarella/ bocconcini slices
Freshly sliced basil
1 tbsp olive oil drizzled
salt to taste
balsamic glaze drizzled on top
Mashed Potatoes:
6 small potatos peeled and rinsed- boiled in salt water until fork tender
salt and pepper to taste
butter to taste
1/4 cup of cream
1 tbsp of Herb and Garlic Bourson
