I’ve been wargaming for over 40 years—WWII battles with Airfix, Warhammer Fantasy Battle, LaserBurn, WH40K Rogue Trader, and even pulp skirmish games. But Cyberpunk wargaming? That somehow never happened—until now.
In this video, I break down why it took so long, the barriers that stopped me, and what changed to finally make Cyberpunk gaming possible. From my earliest influences (2000AD, Blade Runner, Akira, Robotech, Robocop) to the challenges of terrain, rules, and narrative scale, this is the full story of how I finally got here.
🎲 The Problem with Cyberpunk Wargaming
• Cyberpunk is all about individuals, not armies—hard to wargame
• Most games don’t include hacking, vehicle control, or social influence
• No perfect ruleset exists, so we’re using Imperial Commander to build our own
🏙 What Changed?
• 3D printing + LED lighting made cyberpunk cities easier to build
• Miniatures caught up—finally, we have great cyberpunk sculpts
• The Matrix showed how to scale cyberpunk conflicts into wargames
